Crazy Socks 4 Docs 2024 and a message from founder Dr Geoff Toogood

Cardiologist and Founder Dr Geoff Toogood and his team are gearing up for the 8th Crazy Socks 4 Docs Day on Friday June 7th. Over the past seven years this event and charitable not-for-profit organisation has gained considerable momentum nationally and indeed globally making impact to reduce the stigma associated with clinician mental ill health and barriers to seeking and accessing support and help. I vividly recall the first time I heard Geoff speak in the lead up to the inaugural event in 2017 and I have been fortunate to listen to and learn from him many times since.

In this short conversation Geoff tells me about the plans for this year's events in Darwin and Townsville, the focus on our rural and regional workforce, his triumphs to date, hopes going forward and how we can support and get involved.

I look around my growing coalition of colleagues in healthcare leading organisational wellbeing change and amongst them I see directors of training who have sat in the rubble with their trainees, psychiatrists who have treated their colleagues as patients, anaesthetists who have lost colleagues and emergency physicians who know that some of the highest rates of professional burnout are contributing to their colleagues' occupational distress. I've also seen the positive change and impact of their work over the past decade and tomorrow is also

an opportunity to celebrate their collective efforts.

Thank you to Geoff and my colleagues for their tireless advocacy and action to help improve the future for all of us in healthcare.
